Oct 4, 2026 - Grade 7 (Sunday AM)

Hari Om Parents,

We had another very engaging class about the following topics.

Ramayana: The Story of Visvamitra

This week, we explored the inspiring journey of Sage Visvamitra and his transformation from a powerful king into a Brahmarshi. Along the way, we discussed the challenges he faced and the inner qualities he had to develop to reach his goal.

  1. Who was Visvamitra before attaining the status of Brahmarshi?
Visvamitra began his life as a powerful king and warrior named Kausika. What qualities did he possess as a king, and what did he eventually realize was greater than worldly power?

  2. What incident sparked Visvamitra's inner journey?
His encounter with Sage Vasishta and the divine cow, Sabala opened his eyes to the immense power of tapas and spiritual strength. This experience led him to leave behind his kingdom and begin his journey of self-transformation.

  3. Who was Trisanku, and what did Visvamitra realize after that incident?
Trisanku wanted to ascend to heaven in his physical body, and Visvamitra attempted to make this possible through his tapas. What did this episode teach Visvamitra about the power of his own abilities?

  4. Who was Menaka, and what hurdle did Visvamitra have to overcome after his time with her?
Menaka was sent to test Visvamitra's tapas, and he became distracted from his spiritual goal. After realizing what had happened, he understood that overcoming desire and attachment would be one of his greatest challenges.

  5. What was the next challenge Visvamitra had to conquer?
Even after overcoming many obstacles, Visvamitra still struggled with anger. His encounter with Rambha showed him that controlling his temper was just as important as controlling his desires. He eventually learned that true spiritual strength required mastery over his own mind and emotions.

  6. What is the overall message of Visvamitra's life? The children will provide their inputs from the story and we will move on to the influence he had on Rama in the next class.

Keys to Success

We then delved into the inspiring story of Thomas Edison and his journey while inventing the light bulb. Through Edison's perseverance, we explored the value of hard work, resilience, and learning from each attempt, no matter the outcome.

After that, we proposed the formula for success:

A (Hard Work) + B (Knowledge) + C (Laughter) = Success

This formula highlights that success isn't only about working hard and gaining knowledge, but also about finding joy in the process. It was a wonderful way for the children to understand that a balanced approach can lead to meaningful accomplishments.

We look forward to exploring more content with our children in the next class.

Warm Regards,
Rahul and Keerthi
