Oct 2, 2026 - Grade 3 (Friday)

Hari Om Parents,

Here's a summary of what we did during our previous class. We'll be sending these emails after every class.

We started class with our opening prayers: Om three times, followed by Sahana Vavatu, Vakratunda Mahakaya, Saraswati Namastubyam and Guru Brahma.

Then we all recited Shlokas 1, 2,3 and 14 from the Guru Stotram(this is available in both the Balavihar handbook and the My Prayers Book).

We then explored the meaning of the Guru Stotram, Shlokam 1.

We then had a recap of the first 2 chapters during which we revised the names of the 10 Avataras and what we learnt about them in the previous class, after which we delved into the story of how Rishi Vyasa met Sage Narada and how that conversation inspired Sage Vyasa to write the Bhagavatham.

We also leant a bit about Saga Narada's life and how he turned out to become a person who was respected and revered by everyone.

We then tested our stability by trying to stand on one foot and learnt the importance of focus and concentration.

Before we dispersed for Aarthi and Pledge, we listened to Swamiji's introduction to the Geeta chanting and also practised pronouncing the Sanskrit Syllables.

A couple of reminders:

1. Link to the Friday 3rd grade parents WhatsApp group if anyone here isn't a part of it:

2. No Balavihar on October 9th and Oct 16th.

3. Please have the kids bring their handbook and their My Prayers book to every class(both books are available in the Ashram Bookstore).

May Gurudev’s blessings always be with you and your family.

Unto HIM our Best
Aaarthi and Niveditha.

Sep 18, 2026 - Grade 3 (Friday)

Hari Om Parents,

Here's a summary of what we did during our second class.

We then began to explore Chapter 1 from our Curriculum for this year, Introduction to Avataras. We learnt what the word Avatara meant and then discussed/brainstormed as to why God chose to come down to the earth in different forms. We also learnt to identify each Avatara with some association, like a Wild Boar for Varaha, Bow and Arrow for Rama and so on.

Then came the fun part where we did an activity! Each kid received a picture of an Avatara and they all identified the name of the Avatara and wrote the name, their name and then colored the picture!

Next, as part of Chapter 2, we learnt, how unlike the present day, schools were in the forest and the teachers and students lived and learnt together in a Gurukulam. We learnt about one such Gurukulam, which was in the forest named Naimisaaranyaa, led by Guru Saunaka Rishi.

Then we learnt about Rishi Soothaji, a learned scholar, who visited the Gurukulam and that Guru Saunakaji, asked him the question: " How can a person become good and happy forever?" And Soothaji's answer was, the answer is given in this 18,000 verse sacred poem written by Sri Veda Vyasa, the great and it's called  The Bhagavatam. And then he starts to tell the story of how Bhagavatham was written.

We will learn that story in the next class!

2. This weekend is our very special House Inaugural Assembly. We are Arjuna's arrows, and our house color is Green. Please have all the kids come in Green Indian Festive clothing!

3. For the activity planned for the House Inaugural Assembly, we need lots of parent volunteers! The help required is very simple — just guiding a small group of kids during the activity. No prior experience needed.

If you would like to volunteer (even for one session), please join our Volunteers WhatsApp group here:

4. Please have the kids bring their handbook and their My Prayers book to every class(both books are available in the Ashram Bookstore).

May Gurudev’s blessings always be with you and your family.
