Oct 4, 2026 - Grade 3 (Sunday AM)

Hari Om Parents,
Welcome to our Grade 3 class.
Apologies for the late emails. We were struggling a little to get access to log into the account.
Well, everything is sorted out and we will be sending out the regular weekly emails going forward.

A quick recap of what had been covered in the previous classes:
1. 1st session - Opening prayer, Introduction of Teachers and kids (names and likes), Introduction of the class format and curriculum, Class rules and Introduction to Bala Bhagawatam Part 1.
We met with the patients towards the end of the class.
Assembly in the Prayer Hall for Aarti and pledge.
2. 2nd session-  Opening prayer, Attendance, Started the curriculum with Chapter 1 and 2 of the Bala Bhagwatam where we discussed about the definition of Avatar (the Avatars of Vishnu Bhagawan) and the Background (why was the Bhagawatam written) Yoga time ( stretching and tree pose etc) Assembly in the Prayer Hall for Aarti and pledge.
3. 3rd session- Opening Prayer, Attendance, Continued with chapter 3 and 4 of the Bala Bhagawatam where we discussed about Sage Narada's conversation with Sage Vyasa and the introduction of Sage Narada and proceeded to discuss about King Parikshit and his meeting with Kali and the four pillars of Dharma. We had a short class because of the House inaugural and we all assembled in the Hall for the Inaugural activities and pledge.

Oct 4th was the 4th session of BalaVihar.
We started with Opening prayers - Sahana Vavatu, Vakra Tunda, Saraswati Namastubhyam, Gurur Brahma, Buddhir Balam.
We are also learning the verses of Guru stotram by adding a new verse every session. Children take turns to chant shloka and others recite following them.

Then we did a little recap by having a fun quiz time with 2 teams and discussed about what was taught in the previous sessions. Children remembered very well the previously taught lessons.

Continuation of the next Chapters of the Bala Bhagawatam:
Chapter 5 - Kali's address - After begging for mercy from King PArikshit, Kali requests the king to give him places to survive and places where Kali resides - places of untruth, cruelty, greed, arrogance, indiscipline and lastly where the name of God is forgotten. So, in this Kali Yuga we need to preserve all the qualities of Dharma - Truth, Kindness, Austerity, Purity and always remembering the name of God.

Chapter 6 - Curse of Sringi (Sage shamika's son) King Pariskshit while hunting in the forest is tired and thirsty and asks Sage Shamika for water while the sage was in Samadhi and when he did not get a reply, the angry king put a dead snake around the Sage's neck to test his meditation. Sage's son was angered by this insult and cursed the King that after 7 days, a serpent will bite the king and he will die.

Yoga time - Stretches and tree pose etc
Attendance was taken
Geeta Chanting Primer Video was played and we all chanted some words to get familiar with the pronunciation of the letters and words.

Then we all assembled in the Prayer Hall for Aarti and Pledge

Next Session : Sunday 10-25-26
Happy Navratri everyone !!

Warmly,
Rajeswari Ummettala
