This week in Grade 9 Balavihar, we continued our curriculum on Introduction to Hindu Culture.
We began with prayers, welcomed our new students, and briefly recapped our previous class.
🌿 Key topics discussed:
• Culture vs. Civilization – civilization reflects external progress, while culture reflects our inner values, attitudes and way of life.
• Samskara, Swabhava & Samskriti – how our impressions and values shape our individual nature, and how shared values and traditions shape the culture of a community.
• Prakriti → Vikriti → Samskriti – our natural tendencies, how they can become distorted, and how refinement through values and discipline helps us become more “cultured.”
• Materialistic vs. Spiritual Culture – balancing external progress and success with inner growth, values, contentment and purpose.
🎥 We concluded the discussion by watching Dr. Rao’s video on “Introduction to Hindu Culture.”
🪔 Our Grade 9 students also had the wonderful opportunity to lead the Aarti in the main assembly hall.
