Oct 2, 2026 - Shishu Vihar (Friday)

Hari Om! Parents,

Summary of today’s class ( Oct 2nd)

Opening prayers:

Started the class with Om

 Om Sahana Vavatu

Om Sri Ganeshaya NamaH

Om Sri Saraswatyai NamaH

Om Sri Sadgurubhyo NamaH

Today we talked about what is very special about this month. We spoke about Navarathri and about Goddess Parvathi, Lakshmi and Saraswathi and their vahana and about their significance. Students were so excited about Golu. Some students were mentioning about the dolls and the stories that they see in Golu and also about yummy food.

Then we taught them the Shlokas with their meaning.

   - Vakratunda Mahakaya

   - Saraswati Namastubhyam

   - Karagre vasate Lakshmi

Then we did the yoga incorporating Sanskrit numbers while doing yoga. After Yoga we did meditation starting with meditation gong and the students and the parents had to sit down calmly with eyes closed and count the stones that we are dropping during their meditation.  After the meditation was completed we asked the students and parents for the count of stones that had been dropped. Most of the students were very close with the count and few came up with funny numbers.

After meditation we taught them Sanskrit numbers. We taught the class from 1 to 5 and also we gave them a coloring sheet to color Ekam. We gave them pipe cleaners and asked them to shape Ekam with that. Everyone did so well with their parents' help.

Then we taught them two colors in Sanskrit: Haritah and Raktah or Lohitah. We gave them matching sheets to match the colors and also we asked them to show the right color crayon from their crayon box. When we ask them to show the particular color everyone showed correctly.

Then we sang Bajan -  Amba Parameshwari and Great God Ganapathy kids were enjoying both Bajans.

Then it was story time and students listened so quietly and curiously about “Vaishnav devi comes home”. After story time they did Devi craft very patiently. They all enjoyed the craft.

We ended the class with the ending prayer. Then we assembled in the temple for Arathi.

Please Note:

Our next class is on Oct 23rd. We will be having a short class so first we will all meet in the classroom as usual, after that we will be celebrating Saraswathi Pooja at the temple. Happy Navarathiri!!

Pranams,

Malini and Parth.
