Hari Om Parents,
Welcome to our Grade 4 class, a quick recap of what was covered in class today.
From the Assembly hall, we all went to our classroom -- "Madhava" and after everyone sat down we followed the below format:
Opening Prayers: We all sat straight, criss cross, hands folded, chanted together 3 Oms, then Sahana Vavatu, Ganesha Slokha -Vakra Tunda, Saraswathi Slokha- Saraswathi Namasthubayam, and Guru Slokha - Guru Brahma , Hanuman slokas.. Everyone nicely chanted together and focussed well, and kids recited a few slokas of their choice too.
Introduction of Teachers & Kids: Teacher introductions were done, after which each kid stated their hobbies, favorite color etc when their name was called. Kids shared what they like to do and it was fun listening to them and attendance was marked as well at this time.
Introduction of Class Format and Class Curriculum: Went over the Introductory slides- depicting the class format, and Class Curriculum - Bala Bhagavatham -2 and
My 24 Teachers, which we discussed in class. This year's sloka we will be learning is Krishnashtakam, And this year we will be learning verses from Bhagavad Gita Ch 6.
Class rules : We went over for a few minutes classroom rules : on how kids should be and that they should be respectful, good to each other in every class.
Introduction of Bala Bhagavatam : As the topic is Bala Bhagvatham part 2 we went over King Parikshit story. It was great to see kids recollect and share some of the intricate details related to King Parikshit story. We did a nice recap of the different Vishnu Avatars, Yugas, and we are excited to say Kids happily shared relevant stories related to some of the Avataras.
Yoga Time: We did some warm up with some stretches, tree pose, jumping jacks and Brain Yoga (Thopakarnni).
Bhajan time: We all sang together the first verse of - Hey Murali Shridhara - a couple of times, this is the bhajan from our House group- Krishna Cowboys, kids sang together well.
Ganesh Festival: As we are all celebrating Ganesh Festival tomorrow, we discussed Ganesha Story, and learnt the significance of all the features of Lord Ganesha.
By this time, Parents came into the class, and we went over some of the slides with parents to give them an overview of the class. Thank you parents for coming to meet. It was great to see you all and go over the different activities and events for kids to participate in. Kids were doing likhita japa quietly when details were shared with parents.
Then we all went to the prayer hall for Assembly, for Aarthi and Pledge.
It was a great session today, kids actively participated in class today and we had some fun together. We had a wonderful first class kicking off this year's BalaVihar.
